Monument Valley honestly kept me from having a panic attack a few weeks ago.
I was on hold with my bank for roughly a half hour because someone had stolen my debit card number and had charged a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff to it. All I could think about while I was on hold was what if my rent check bounces, I can’t afford the late fee I’ll be slapped with and I’m already on bad terms with my super – and I felt that horrible grip around my chest squeezing down and my breathing getting faster.
Normally I can just drink a cold glass of water and sit in front of my ac (to remind myself that no, my throat is not actually closing up, and that yes, I can still successfully get air into my lungs with the help of a fan) but this time neither of those tricks did anything. Well actually that’s not true, they reminded me that I was alone in my apartment, and if couldn’t find a way to calm down, I wouldn’t necessarily be able to get help – which only scared the shit out of me even more.
So I sat in front of my AC and pulled up the brightest, happiest looking app I have on phone, which is Monument Valley, and within ten minutes of building pathways to guide the princess through the castle I was breathing normally. I found myself thinking, look at this bitch, you’re already solving this, this will be cleared up with your bank in the next half hour, and in case your check bounces, you’ll have documentation as to why to show your landlord. On good days, it’s sometimes honestly as simple as helping a tiny me walk through a beautiful castle while solving simple puzzles to remind myself:

and rely on them from the minute you wake up to right before you go to bed like I do, then you have probably been in a situation where you’ve had to pay a grip for them (the more involved your rx is, the more expensive they tend to be).
well, (I’m probably late, but) I just found out about Zennioptical.com. there are frames on their site for as low as $6.95.
I don’t know how pricing goes regarding particular prescription needs, but, for someone who has had to pay $300+ for some frames (we hadn’t even factored the lens at that point), I think this site is a God-send.
so, yeah. just wanna pass that on.
ps. the frames are ca-yoot. I favorited like 30 already.
also, eyebuydirect.com is another cheap site where you can get eyeglasses/sunglasses, it ranges from $8-$86CAD ..what’s cool about them is, if you are not satisfied with your order, you can email them and they’ll send you free replacements of your choice. you have to let them know within 12 months though, but thats plenty of time.
let’s say you buy 2 pairs of glasses, both of them cost $60, if you don’t like how they look, break easily, etc… you can choose as many pairs of glasses as you want as long as it’s not over $60, and they’ll send it to you for free. i tried it, it’s so dope.
This shell script utilizes the excellent tumblr_backup.py and makes it do exactly what I want it to do – and most likely, that’s what you want it to do as well.
The script downloads the current versions of the required Python scripts, backups one or multiple Tumblr blogs to date-prefixed folders (e.g. 2014-09-17_neondust.tumblr.com), and subsequently removes the downloaded software automatically.
It runs out-of-the-box on any recent version of Mac OS X and most Linux distributions, you can configure it using the variables at the top of the file, and there’s a quick guide at the bottom of this post. If there are any errors, make sure you have Python 2.6 or newer installed.
In case you have no prior experience with the command line, here’s a step-by-step guide:
Click the “view raw” link above and save that file as backup_tumblr.sh on your Desktop.
Open backup_tumblr.sh in a text editor and edit the BLOGS variable according to the instructions in the file.
Open your terminal emulator (Terminal.app on Mac OS X).
Run the script: Type bash ~/Desktop/backup_tumblr.sh and press Enter. You can abort the backup at any time by pressing ctrl+C (this might take a few seconds).
Depending on how many blogs you’re backing up and how many posts they contain, it might take half an hour or so to download everything. If you haven’t changed the OUT variable, everything should show up on your Desktop.
My results: 17, 17, 17, 15, 14, 14, 13, 8 No surprise here. But still a lot better than it would have shown to be a year ago.
Questions are all professional, fit in very closely with other tests I’ve taken before. Not surprised with our results at all, though, which… is a bit sad. We have diagnosed PTSD though, but it helps shine light a lot better on what we need to work on in therapy.

(If you can’t read scores it says: 16, 16, 16, 14, 13, 11, 11, 8)
I’m going to do this later
16, 11, 10, 10, 10, 8, 7, 7
Looks like it affected us more than I thought…
12, 11, 9, 9, 9, 8, 7, 6
Not as bad as it could be, but worse than I was actually expecting. Some of it explains some things we hadn’t thought about.
if you follow the paintbrush with your eyes while not moving your head, it forces you to use emdr which is a therapeutic technique to calm anxiety/panic. watching fish swim causes the same effect.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE FOREVER FOR THIS TO BE ON MY DASHBOARD AGAIN
